Such trust

Did we ever wonder that sending children to school was such a leap of faith or a test of our trust in others?  I feel this way almost each day as I drop her off, send her into the classroom and bid farewell for the few hours to be away.  Is it because I'm an adult and I know of all the scary things in the world, because this daily ritual does not seem to bother my sweet daughter who happily leaves me!?  Today was her first field trip and she was soooo excited to....ride the bus!! ....and go the pumpkin farm too, but ride a bus!  I wonder how stressful that is for the teachers, being responsible for all those kids in wide open spaces, ahhh!  I worry keeping track of my three in a crowded store!  but I guess they do have lots of chaperons going also.  She'll have such fun, she always does, she has enthusiasm for everything and I love it!

Two Wheels

Well she has done it!  Lissy has conquered the bicycle on two wheels.  After seeing that her friend Malaya was riding her bike without training wheels she wanted to give it a try.  I told her she had to have Daddy help her, so wed night after dinner, he took her out front and even though it was basically dark he said she had it down in about 15 minutes, wow!  Thurs morning she was very excited to get out and ride some more, and Monte got some video.  I surprised her after school by showing up with her bike so we could ride home, and she was very excited to ride to school with Daddy on Friday!  It was her "favorite day" riding to and from school on bikes cause "Daddy is her favorite!"  and yes I am quoting her :)

All Hail the Crockpot

Have you heard of it?  Its a wonderful device! On such days when I either can't or don't want to hassle with preparing dinner at "dinnertime" -because that can be so difficult with a baby and kids that wants to eat now) I can assemble some food into this pot early in the day or even at lunch time, turn it on, and it will slowly cook such food into something edible!  And its amazing!  Dinner is waiting for us when we get home, the food tastes good, the kids eat it (which is a miracle in itself) and there is hardly a cleanup job!!  So I ask you now to please stand and say with me, "All hail the crock pot"!

Gen Conf Fun

We really enjoyed conference!  I was very nervous Saturday morning because last time it was really hard keeping the kids quietly playing nearby so "we" could listen, but they did good! Lissy colored a lot, and JR did different things. Of course by the end of the afternoon session they had gone outside and were playing so nicely together that I just let them.  Later my friend Shelly and her three kids came over and the kids played outside more.  We started to wonder about dinner as the guys wouldn't be home until after 7, and decided to stick together and get pizza.  So she went to get it with her little guy and I stayed on kid duty and assembled a salad.  She returned with the goods and since the children were so dirty from an evil pile of dirt in my yard, (seriously their feet and hands were black and the boys faces were all smudged, I should've taken a picture!)  They were kept outside to eat too, cause they had been kept playing outside the whole time too!  Yes I was being a stickler since it has only been one day since making my floor beautiful again, haha!  Anyways everyone enjoyed their food, and they got ice cream too!  Soon the Daddy's arrived and a bit later it was off to the showers, we joked that it would be fun to just hose them off with some soap outside!

Oh Monday

I realized that after a having a "weekend" with Monte home (he's not usually off on Sat) that my Monday was seeming quite long, lonely and I was becoming very tired.  After family prayer I had a hard time opening my eyes back up.  I'm always tired at the end of the day it seems, but with Wyatt waking up a lot at night again, and a certain three year old not taking his nap so that Mommy could, and many other factors I'm sure, I am a bit more so it seems.  After the kiddos were in bed I opened this up intending to do some catch up with pictures, but instead got distracted back to the kitchen! Tuesday morning the trash truck comes, so Monday we take out all the stinky stuff "trash", also checking the fridge for rotting food (may it rest in peace) and lo a rotting bag of parsley at the bottom of the veggie drawer was leaking eewwiness!  How did this happen?! gross!  Well one thing led to another, and my kitchen is somewhat sparkling (I don't think it has the ability to sparkle anymore) it is ten thirty, I am exhausted, but wanted to at least write something, wahlah! Goodnight Monday, until next week.

First ride to school

Today Melissa rode her bike to school for the first time.  We have walked home a couple times, but I needed to know how long it would take her before doing on the way there.  Its about 3/4 of a mile.  So saturday evening we tried it out, since the weather is being so nice right now, and it only took about ten minutes.  I rode my bike also, towing the boys in the trailer.  And this morning she really wanted to ride again, so we did and it went smoothly.  Wyatt even fell asleep on the way back home leaning on JR's arm, so sweet!

Sunday success

We had a successful morning getting ready for church and in turn getting there on time.  And since there were no major meltdowns in protest of going from a certain three year old boy, and I didn't have to call his father already at church for reinforcement, my debate of possibly going less active will be postponed.  And so church went quite smoothly also, I think we all had a pleasant experience.  Monte was given new counselors in his Young Men presidency which he is excited about.  And the rest of the day.  We played outside cause a gorgeous day, then bbq'd and Melissa set the table outside so beautifully with a fresh flower centerpiece and all.  Monte went to a stake fireside and we cleaned up, played more, bathed and settled down with books.
